Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

The Perch app (“Perch”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Perch Presents LLP, and helps shoppers discover independent sellers, and helps sellers showcase what they make.

This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights whether you use Perch to browse and buy, or to run a shop on it.

The PERCH App does not process payments. When you buy something, you’re taken to the seller’s own shop, selling platform, their own website, or wherever else they sell and that transaction happens entirely between you and the seller, on their platform.

We never see your card details or payment information.

Information we collect

Everyone with an account

• Your email address

• Your display name and any profile photo you add

• If you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and email they share with us

• The listings you save and the shops you follow

• Sellers or listings you’ve reported or blocked (see “Reporting and blocking” below)

• Any feedback or bug reports you choose to send us, and the app version and device platform you were using at the time

If you become a seller

Running a shop on Perch means you’re sharing more than a browsing account does:

• Your shop name, bio, and any external links you add (Etsy, Instagram, your own site, etc.)

• Your listings: titles, descriptions, prices, categories, tags, photos, and the external “buy link” where shoppers complete a purchase

• Your location, used to show shoppers how far away you are, see “Location” below for exactly what this does and doesn’t reveal

• A record of admin review decisions on your shop and listings (e.g. approval, rejection reasons), visible only to you and our admin team

Location

If you grant location permission, we use your device’s location to show you sellers and listings nearby. This is the only use of shopper-side location; it is not stored against your account beyond what’s needed to compute distance for that request.

For sellers, we treat your location differently depending on whether you tell us you sell from a shop/studio or from home:

• Shop or studio: your exact location can appear as a pin on the map, since it’s a public business address.

• Home-based (the default): shoppers only ever see your postcode sector (e.g. “LU1 3”) on the map, labelled “approximate.” Your exact address is never shown to other users under any circumstance, by design, it is technically impossible for the app to reveal it, regardless of what you enter, unless you explicitly switch to “shop or studio.”

You can change this setting at any time from your shop’s edit-profile screen, and it takes effect on your next save.

Photos

Photos you upload for your profile, or a listing are resized and re-encoded before they’re stored. This process strips any location or camera data (EXIF metadata) that your phone may have embedded in the original photo file.

How we use your information

• To create and run your account, and to show your saves, follows, and (if you’re a seller) your shop and listings to other users

• To show shoppers nearby sellers and listings, using location as described above

• To send push notifications you’ve opted into (for example, about sellers you follow)

• To review shops and listings before they go live, and to act on reports, as part of keeping Perch trustworthy, see below

• To respond to feedback, bug reports, and support requests

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Reporting and blocking

Perch lets any user report a listing or seller, and lets shoppers block a seller so that seller’s content is hidden from them entirely, everywhere in the app.

If you report a seller or listing, the details you provide are visible to our admin team only, for the purpose of reviewing that report, never to the seller or any other user.

If you’re reported, we don’t identify who made the report to you.

Crash and error reporting

We use Sentry to automatically report app crashes and errors so we can find and fix problems, generally before you’d need to tell us about them. It’s operational data we rely on to keep the app working, not used for marketing, profiling or tracking.

These reports contain technical details only (device type, app version, and what the app was doing at the time) and are automatically stripped of anything that looks like precise location data before being sent.

Third parties we use to run Perch

  • Supabase — hosts our database, file storage, and handles authentication

  • Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple — optional sign-in methods, if you choose to use them instead of email and password

  • Sentry — crash and error reporting, see “Crash and error reporting” above

  • Squarespace — runs our website, where sellers pay for memberships. Membership payments are handled by Squarespace and its payment providers, never in the app, and we never see your card details

We do not track you. We don’t use any analytics or advertising services, and we don’t combine your data with data from other companies or share it with data brokers. We’ll update this policy before that ever changes.

Data storage and retention

Your data is stored securely on Supabase’s infrastructure. We keep your data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

Your rights

Under UK/EU GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access request a copy of your data at any time from Privacy & Data in the app

• Export - download a copy of your account data as a JSON file from Privacy & Data

• Delete - delete your account from your profile or from Privacy & Data in the app.

Deletion is immediate and permanent: it removes your account, your saves and follows, and any shop, listings and photos you have

• Object or restrict contact us using the details below if you want to object to or restrict a specific use of your data

Cookies

Perch is a mobile app and does not use browser cookies.

Children

Perch is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll notify you of significant changes via the app or by email.
